CHAP. 267.

the rate of twelve and a half cents per mile, for every
mile over five miles that the jurors may have to travel

thority.

to and from their residences respectively, shall be suf-
ficient authority to the collector to pay the amount so
specified in the said certificate.

Jurors $1 50
per diem.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the per diem of each
juror shall he one dollar and fifty cents for each day
they shall be in attendance at said court, in addition to
the itinerant allowance above provided.

Collectors shall
settle annually.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the collector shall
annually settle his account with the said commissioners
for the monies which he may have collected tinder the
provisions of this act, and pay over to the said com-
missioners any surplus remaining in his hands, which
surplus, if any, shall be applied to county uses.

CHAPTER 267.

Passed Mar. 22,
1838.

An act for the relief of the Administrator of Preston
McComas, late Sheriff of Harford County.

WHEREAS, the said late sheriff died suddenly before
he had collected the fees due due to him, and placed in
his hands for collection: — Therefore,

complete col-
lections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That Bennett Gilbert, the administrator of Preston
McComas, late sheriff of Harford county, be, and he
is hereby authorised to collect by execution or other-
wise, in the same manner, and with the like authority
that the said Preston McComas might if he were now
living, all fees due to said late sheriff, and all fees due
to other officers, which were placed in the hands of said
late sheriff for collection, and which were not collected

Proviso.

by said late sheriff; provided, the said administrator,
before he proceeds to execute the property of any per-
son for any of said fees, shall give notice of the de-
mand and the amount thereof, thirty days before he
shall execute for the same.
