by them laid out and expended by virtue of this act, in
building or repairing said bridge, and the said com-
missioners or levy court, in the respective counties,
shall make such compensation to said commissioners
as they in their judgment shall think proper.

CHAP. 258.

An act to make a. public Landing and Road therein
mentioned.

1838.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly, by the petition of sundry citizens of Saint Mary's
county, in the second election district of said county,
that they labor under great inconvenience for the want
of a public landing at or near a place called Rich
Neck, on the head waters of Saint Mary's river, and
a public road from thence to the road leading to the
Great Mills, in the said election district: — Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William H. Heble, Doctor John Du-
lany and William Coade, be, and they, or a majority
of them, are hereby appointed commissioners, to meet
at a place called Rich Neck, on Saint Mary's river,

amine and determine whether the public convenience
does require that a public landing should be establish-
ed at or near said Rich Neck, and a public road loca-
ted and opened to said landing; and if, in the opinion
of the said commissioners, or a majority of them, the
public convenience does require that a public landing
should be established, and a road located and opened
from the said landing to the aforementioned main road
leading to the Great Mills, in said election district,

To examine, &c.

they, or a majority of them, shall lay out a quantity of
land for a public landing place on the said Saint
Mary's river, at or near the aforementioned place, not
exceeding one acre, and open a road from said landing
to the aforementioned main road, in such manner as
they, or a majority of them, may think most conducive
to the public benefit; and the said commissioners, or a
