1817.

LAWS OF MARYLAND;

CHAP 238.

Levy directed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of Harford county are hereby authorised and directed
to levy, on the assessable property of said county, at
their next county levy, the sum of two hundred dol-
lars: and in the year ensuing thereafter, a further sum
of two hundred dollars, and cause the said sums to be
collected as other county levies are, and to he made
payable to the said bridge commissioners, or their joint
order.

Case of surplus.

SEC. S. And be it enacted, That in case any portion
of the sum appropriated should be left, after the said
bridge is finished, and the abutments filled in, the
same shall he paid over to the county commissioners,
for the use of the county.

Case of vacan-

cy.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That a majority of said
bridge commissioners shall be competent to transact
any business relative to said building: and in case of
any vacancy occuring, by refusal to act, or in any
other manner, as it relates to the said bridge commis-
sioners, the said county commissioners shall have pow-
er to fill up the same.

CHAPTER 238.

An act to regulate the Free School Fund of Carroll
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore
be, and he is hereby authorised and required to pay to
the commissioners of tax of Carroll county, or their
order, all of the free school fund which may now be,
or shall hereafter become due to Carroll county.

Investment di-
rected.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of tax of Carrol county be, and they are hereby au-
thorised and required to invest, from time to time, all
of the school fund which may now be in their posses-
sion, or which they may hereafter receive from the
Treasurer of the Western Shore, as provided by this
act, or from the commissioners of Baltimore county,
or the levy court of Frederick county, as provided by
an act passed December session one thousand eight
