teen hundred and seventy-nine, except the business of
the said company shall have been brought to a close
as is hereinbefore provided for: provided always, that
the Legislature hereby reserves the right to repeal, or
modify said act, at any subsequent session thereof.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act contained shall be so construed as to confer any
banking privileges on the company aforesaid, nor the
right to issue any note in the nature of a bank note,
or any note payable to bearer.

An act to allow Thomas Perry, former Sheriff of Charles
county, further time to complete his collections.
|
|
|
Authorised to
collect.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Thomas Perry, former sheriff of Charles county,
and his deputies, or any agent by him appointed, be,
and they are hereby authorised and empowered to col-
lect and receive all and every balance or amount of
officers' fees, taxes, and fines and forfeitures, and all
other sums that may be due and owing to the said Perry
as sheriff as aforesaid, or to his deputies, in the same
manner, and to the same effect as if the terms of office
of the said Perry, as sheriff as aforesaid, had not ex-

pired; provided, that if any person against whom there
is a claim by said Perry, as sheriff as aforesaid, or
either of his deputies, shall make affidavit before a jus-
tice of the peace of said county, that, the same has been
paid at any previous time, to any person authorised to
receive the. same, ft shall prevent the said Perry and
his deputies from collecting said claim in the manner
prescribed by law for collecting such claims; and pro-

vided also, that nothing in this act contained shall be
construed to effect the estate of a deceased person, ex-
cept to authorise said Perry, or his deputies, to recov-
er any claim or balance due by a deceased person in the
same manner that claims against deceased persons are
now recovered by law; and provided also, that this act
shall only continue in force for one year from the date
of its passage.
