CHAP. 96.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the treasurer of Bal-
timore county is hereby authorised and required, at any
time after January one, eighteen hundred and forty-one, to
draw on the commissioners of Carroll county for the afore-
said sum of two hundred and twenty-two dollars and
eighty-six cents, and apply the same to defray the ex-
penses of said county, as other levies are now applied.

An act supplementary to an act, passed December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, chapter three hundred
and sixty-two, entitled an act to divide Saint Mary's
County into School Districts, and to erect School Houses
therein.

In case of fail-

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That in the event of the trustees of any school
district or districts in Saint Mary's county, failing to build
a school house or houses, according to the provisions of
the act to which this is a supplement, then it shall
be the duty of said trustees, until such times as they
shall have complied with the provisions of the afore-
said act, to contract for the education of the poor
children in their respective school district or districts, with
any convenient private teacher, upon such terms as indi-

judgment, it should be more conducive to the interests and
welfare of their respective school district or districts, they
are hereby authorised to contract with the trustees of any
adjoining school district or districts which have complied
with the provisions of the aforesaid law, for the education
of the children within their respective school district or

for such contracts more than said trustees failing to build
