CHAP. 146.

Quorum.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said trustees and
their successors, by the name and style aforesaid, shall
have perpetual succession, and be capable in law, to sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be an-
swered, defend and be defended in any court of justice
whatsover, and to make and use a common seal, and the
same to alter and renew at pleasure, and severally to do
and perform all things relative to the management of the
academy.

tained shall be so construed as to authorise or empower
said corporation to issue any notes, token, certificate or

An act in aid of the construction of a building to be used
as a Public Town Hall, and for other purposes, in the
Town of Easton, in Talbot County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, sundry citizens of the Town of Easton, in
Talbot county, propose to have constructed a building to
be used as a Public Town Hall or Odd Fellows Hall, and
for other purposes; and whereas, the said undertaking will
subserve materially the public convenience and interests;
and it is represented that to accomplish these highly use-
ful objects, adequate means cannot be procured save
through the privilege of a lottery — therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John Leeds Kerr, Theodore R. Locker-
man, James M. Lloyd, Pere Robinson and P. F. Thomas,
of the town of Easton, be and the same are hereby ap-
pointed commissioners, with full power and authority, by
a scheme of lottery and the sales thereof, or of the tickets
therein, and without being subject to any tax whatsoever,
to raise the sum of five thousand dollars free and clear,
