Rights reserved.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the State of Mary-
land hereby reserve the right to repeal, alter, modify
and amend this supplement, whenever it may be deem-
ed expedient.

An act for the relief of Monica, a free negro of Mont-
gomery county.
|

Authority to record.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the clerk of Montgomery county court, be, and
he is hereby authorised to record an instrument of
writing, given by William Lee, to negro Monica, there-
in named, on the thirteenth day of June eighteen hundred
and seventeen, and now on file 'in the clerk's office of

Instrument made
valid.
|
Montgomery county, and that the said instrument of
writing shall have the same legal effect and operation
from the date of its execution as if it had been executed,
acknowledged and recorded, in conformity in all re-
spects to the act of Assembly, passed at December
session seventeen hundred and ninety-six, chapter six-
ty seven, section twenty-nine, and all things done
therein, which the law requires to be done to give free-
dom to negroes by deed.

An act entitled an act, better to define and prescribe the
power and duties of the Levy Court, and Trustees of
the Poor of Worcester County.
|

|
Authority to grant
pensions repealed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all laws heretofore passed, authoriz-
ing or empowering the Levy Court, or Trustees of the
poor of Worcester county, to grant pensions by way
of county assessment, be and the same are hereby re-
pealed, any law or usage to the contrary notwithstand-
ing.

Except in cases of
persons confined
to bed.
|
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in
this act shall be so construed as to deprive the trustees
as aforesaid, from granting any allowance or pension
|
