Baltimore city, to introduce into this

State, certain,

SLAVES,

To authorise Peter Gough of St. Ma-

ry's county, to bring into this State a

negro, &c.

To provide for the recapture of fugi-

tive.

Any slave that shall escape from this

State to the District of Columbia, or to

any State of this Union, shall be deem-

ed guilty of felony.

On conviction on indictment &c. shall

be sold after ten days notice by the sheriff

Proceeds of such sale, after deducting

expenses, shall be paid to the owner,

Upon evidence of the fact of such es-

cape, on oath, or upon indictment by any

grand jury being furnished to the gov-

ernor, it shall be his duty to demand such

slave from the proper authority of the

State, or District into which said fuga-

tive may have escaped,

The purchaser of such slave sold tin-

der the 2d sec. of this act, shall file his

bond with the clerk of the county or city

&c. to remove said slave from the State,
