INDEX TO THE LAWS.

Chap.

Sec.

KENT CO. — On the 1st Wednesday of Oct. 1839,

and forever thereafter, the levy court of,

shall consist of five members, elected as

hereinafter provided,

At said period and annually thereafter

the qualified voters of, shall vote for five

persons, to constitute said levy court,

The five having the greatest number of

votes shall be returned duly elected.

Method of conducting said election —

making returns, &c.

"

Cases of tie shall be decided by ballot

at first meeting of the levy court,

Method of deciding the respective terms

of service of those elected in 1839,

Two members of said court to be

elected in October 1840, and every third

year thereafter.

Two in 1841, and every third year

thereafter,

One in 1842, and every third year

thereafter,

Persons so elected shall hold their

office for three years.

Sheriff of, required to give notice an-

nually that election of member or mem-

bers of said court, in place of those whoso

times expire, will be held.

In case of vacancy, the other members

shall appoint a person to serve until the

next annual election, when a person shall

be chosen for residue of the term,

Commissioners of the tax of, abolished,. _

so soon as levy court is qualified under

this act,

Clerk of said commissioners shall de-

liver over all books and papers,

powers and duties now exercised by them.
