cess, by any officer duly authorized upon a director,
shall be good service upon the corporation.

CHAP. 284.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the directors elect-
ed, for the year, shall continue to act until superseded
by a new election of directors, and in failure of electing
on the day prescribed, they may he elected on any
other day, appointed by the existing board, after ten
days' public notice thereof, and subscription books may
be opened, from time to time in the discretion of the
directors, until the whole capital is subscribed.

Tenure of office.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be so construed as conferring any banking
privilege, or to authorise the issue of any check, or
note, in the nature of a bank note.

Banking forbid.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That the Legislature may
at any time make any alterations in, or repeal said
law.

CHAPTER 284.

Rights reserved.

An act to divorce Anna Rebecca Hammond, of Frederick
County, from her husband Lewis Hammond.

Passed Mar. 30,
1839.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Anna Rebecca Hammond, of Frede-
rick county, be, and she is hereby divorced from her
husband Louis Hammond, a mensa et thoro.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Lewis Ham-
mond shall not be liable for any debt that may be here-
after contracted by the said Anna Rebecca Hammond,
nor be entitled to any property which she may here-
after acquire, or to which she may be now entitled.

Divorce.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the said Anna Rebec-
ca Hammond be, from the passage of this act, entitled
to all the rights and privileges of a feme sole, except
the right of marrying again during the lifetime of the
said Lewis Hammond.
