SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Levy Court of Queen Anne's
County, be, and they are hereby required, (if in their
judgment the interest of the county would be promoted)
to levy upon the assessable property of said county,
four hundred dollars to be applied under the direction
of the trustees of the poor of said county, to the cul-
ture, of the Mulberry trees, and growing of Silk, at the
Alms House.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the trustees of the poor, to introduce as soon as prac-
ticable, the raising of silk, into said institution, for
which purpose they are authorised to purchase mul-
berry trees, a reel, and such other implements as may
be necessary to carry into complete effect the inten-
tions of this act, also to purchase such books, to take
such papers as may be necessary for giving instruc-
tion to the keeper, and those under him in growing
the Mulberry tree, and raising and reeling the silk.

Trustees instructed.
|

An act for the benefit of the gate or door-keepers, within
the bar of the Court House, in Frederick and Wash-
ington Counties.
|

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the keepers of the gates or doors, within the bar
of the Court House, in Frederick and Washington
counties, be, and they are hereby respectively entitled
to the sum of one dollar and fifty cents, per day, for
their services as keepers of said gates, or doors, and
that upon a certificate, from the Clerk of said county,
of the number of days that each of them attended, the
collector of taxes for said county, is hereby ordered
and directed to pay over upon presentation of such
certificate or certificates, the amount thereof, in the
same manner that the jurors of said county are now
paid.
