in addition to the sum now allowed their clerk, make a
further allowance to their said clerk; provided, that
the additional allowance, shall not exceed the sum of
one hundred dollars.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, Thai all acts or parts of
acts, which are in any wise inconsistent with, or re-
pugnant to this act, be and the same are hereby re-
pealed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Eliza Matthews, Mary H. Jenkins,
Clotilda Millard, Louisa Walsh, Mary Olivia Stone-
street, Joanna Fitzgerald, Ann Hurley, Rose A. Neale,
Eliza Smith, Elizabeth Greenwell, and those who
may hereafter become members of the association now
formed by the parties above named, and their succes-
sors, shall be, and they are hereby constituted a body

corporate, by the name and style of the Baltimore
Academy of the Visitation, with perpetual succession,
and by that name may sue and be sued, may have and

|
Legal capacities.
|
use a common seal, may take, hold, possess, use and
enjoy any estate, real or personal, by gift, devise or
otherwise, in fee simple, or for any less estate, and
the same, or any part thereof, may lease, sell and con-
vey, by deed or otherwise, with full power and au-
thority to collect and receive all rents and dues which
may hereafter become due and owing to the said cor-
poration by suit or otherwise, as any natural person

may lawfully do; provided always, that the annual in-
come of the estate of the said corporation shall not at
any time exceed the sum often thousand dollars.

Rules and by-laws.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said association
may, under their corporate name aforesaid, pass and.
make all such rules and regulations for their own gov-
ernment and for the future admission of other members
of the association, as it may deem necessary and pro-
per and not inconsistent with the laws of this State or
with the laws of the United States.
