said county; any person interested in the execution of this trust, may put said bond in suit for their
use, and a certified copy thereof shall, in any such suit, be received in evidence in the same manner
as the original bond might or could be.

CHAP.
LXVII.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustees, or the survivor of them, be and they are here-
by authorised to survey, lay out and divide, the said land, in such manner, and to sell the same in
such parcels, as the orphans court of Somerset county may deem most advantageous.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustees, or the survivor of them, shall as soon as con-
veniently may be after the said sale, return a true and just account thereof, on oath, to the orphans
court of Somerset county, there to be recorded.

And return an
account, &c.

VI. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the part of the proceeds of the said real estate which shall be,
or ought to be, paid to the said Joshua Hitch, shall revert and descend among the legal representa-
tives of the said Joshua Hitch, in case of his death before his arrival at the age of twenty-one years,
in the same manner as the said real estate would have reverted and descended; provided, that no-
thing in this act contained shall be construed as authorising the said trustees to make sale of the
said real estate, unless the orphans court of Somerset county shall be of opinion that the sale would
be of advantage to the said Joshua Hitch, and make an order to that effect, which said order, when
made, shall be recorded in the orphans court of Somerset county.

CHAP. LXVIII.

Part of pro-
ceeds to revert,
&c.

An ACT to pay the civil list, and other expenses of civil govern-
ment.

Passed 23d of
Dec. 1808.

WHEREAS those who dedicate their time, abilities and labour, to the public, ought to receive
a reasonable and adequate compensation for their services,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the following officers of civil go-
vernment for the time being shall be entitled to receive at the rate of the following salaries, in cur-
rent money, for the ensuing year, to wit: The treasurer of the western shore, two thousand dollars;
the treasurer of the eastern shore, four hundred and fifty dollars; the auditor, eight hundred dollars;
the clerk of the council, eight hundred dollars; the clerk of the senate, one hundred and fifty dol-
lars; the clerk of the house of delegates, three hundred dollars; the printer to the state, twelve
hundred dollars; the messenger to the council, two hundred and fifty dollars.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all monies which shall remain in the treasury, after discharging
the journal of accounts, and all unappropriated money which may come into the treasury, be first
applied to the payment of the civil list for the ensuing year.

CHAP. LXIX.

Monies appro-
priated, &c.

An ACT to extend the time for the president, managers and com-
pany, of the Falls turnpike road, to complete the said road.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the time limitted for the president,
managers and company, of the Falls turnpike road, to complete the said road, be and the same
is hereby extended lo the first day of January, eighteen hundred and thirteen.

CHAP. LXX.

Time extend-
ed.

An ACT authorising William Moffitt, late sheriff and collector of
Kent county, to complete his collection.

Passed 23d of
Dec 1808.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said William Moffitt be and he is
hereby authorised to collect, until the first day of January, eighteen hundred and ten, all balances
due him as sheriff and collector of Kent county for the year eighteen hundred and six, in the same
manner as he could or might have done within the time limitted by law, any law to the contrary not-
withstanding.
