NOVEMBER. LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP.
CXVII.

J. Mitchell may
collect, &c.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said John Mitchell, be and he
is hereby authorised and empowered to collect, until the first day of January, eighteen hundred and
nine, all balances due him as sheriff and collector of Caroline county for the year eighteen hundred
and six, in the same manner as he could or might have done within the time limitted by law, any law
to the contrary notwithstanding.

To deliver an
account, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACT-ED, That it shall be the duty of the said John Mitchell, before he pro-
ceeds to execute or distrain the property of any person or persons for taxes or public dues in virtue
of this act, to deliver to such person or persons chargeable with the same, at least thirty days pre-
vious to levying such execution or distress an account, written in words at full length, of the taxes
or public dues demanded of him, her or them, with an affidavit annexed, if required, that he hath
not received any part thereof, nor any thing as security or satisfaction for the same, more than credit
given, to the best of his knowledge.

Books to be
lodged, &c.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said John Mitchell, before he derives any benefit from or
under this act, shall lodge a copy of his collection books in the clerk's office of Caroline county, to
be opened for the inspection of all persons interested in the same.

CHAP. CXVIII.

Passed 20th of
January, 1808.

A Supplement to an a& authorising a lottery for raising a sum of
money for repairing Saint-George's church, on Deer creek, in
Harford county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS by the act to which this is a supplement, certain persons therein warned were au-
thorised to propose a scheme of a lottery, to sell and dispose of the tickets therein, for the
purpose of repairing Saint George's church, on Deer creek, in Harford county, and the said com-
missioners neglected to carry the same into effect; therefore,

A scheme may
be proposed,
&c.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That major Robert Morgan, Alexander
Rigdon, Parker H. Lee, John Ashmore, Edward Prigg, Abraham Jarrett, Zaccheus O. Bond, Tho-
mas Scarborough and Thomas S. Chew, or a majority of them, be and they are hereby authorised to
propose a scheme of a lottery, and to sell and dispose of tickets therein, for raising a sum of money
not exceeding four thousand dollars, for repairing the said church.

Managers to
give bond, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the said major Robert Morgan, Alexander Rigdon, Par-
ker H. Lee, John Ashmore, Edward Prigg, Abraham Jarrett, Zaccheus O. Bond, Thomas Scarbo-
rough and Thomas S. Chew, proceed to make sale of any ticket or tickets in the said lottery, they
shall give and execute a bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty of eight thousand dollars,
conditioned that they will well and truly conduct the drawing of said lottery, and apply the money
arising therefrom, within six months after the drawing thereof, to the payment of the prizes drawn
therein to the adventurers to whom they shall be due, and the necessary expenses incurred in the
management thereof, and the residue to the repairing of said buildings.

To be lodged in
the clerk's of-
fice, &c.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in the office of the clerk of Har-
ford county, to be there recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may
be instituted for any breach or non-compliance with the condition thereof.

CHAP. CXIX.

Passed 20th of
January, 1808..

An ACT to correct a mistake in the beginning of lot number twenty-
two in the town of Vienna, in Dorchester county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it has been represented to this general assembly, by the petition of Levin Winder,
that he became the purchaser of lot number twenty-two in the town of Vienna, and that the
surveyor in making a return of the courses of said lot, has represented the same to begin at the end
of the third line of lot number twenty-one, instead of beginning at the south-west intersection of
High street and Low-street; and the facts stated in the said petition appearing to be true, therefore,

Mistake to be
corrected, &c.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the register of the land-office for the
western shore, be and he is hereby authorised and directed to correct the mistake made by the sur-
veyor in the certificate of lot number twenty-two in the town of Vienna, so as to make said lot
begin at the south-west intersection of High-street and Low-street, instead of beginning at the end
