At a SESSION of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY of
MARYLAND, begun and held at the CITY of
ANNAPOLIS, on Monday, the 2d of November,
in the year of our LORD, 1807, and ended the 20th
of January, 1808, the following Laws were enacted.

CHAP. I.

An ACT to settle and ascertain the salary of the members of the
council for the ensuing year.
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That each member of the council shall be
entitled to receive, for the ensuing year, the sum of two hundred founds current money for
his salary.

An ACT authorising Thomas J. Pattison, late sheriff and collector
of Dorchester county, to complete his collection.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of Thomas J. Pattison,
late sheriff and collector of Dorchester county, that from various causes therein set forth
he has not been able to complete his collection within the time limitted, and that there is still due
him, as sheriff and collector of said county, considerable sums of money, and praying that a law may
pass to enable him to collect the same; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said Thomas J. Pattison be
and he is hereby authorised and empowered to collect, until the first day of December, eighteen
hundred and eight, all balances due him as sheriff and collector of Dorchester county for the year
eighteen hundred and six, in the same manner as he could or might have done within the time limit-
ted by law, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said Thomas J. Pattison, before he
proceeds to execute or distrain the property of any person or persons for taxes or public dues in vir-
tue of this act, to deliver to such person or persons chargeable with the same, at least thirty days
previous to levying such execution or distress, an account, written in words at full length, of the
taxes or public dues demanded of him, her or them, with an affidavit annexed, if required, that he
hath not received any part thereof, nor any thing as security or satisfaction for the same, more than
credit given, to the, best of his knowledge.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said Thomas J. Pattison, before he derives any benefit from
or under this act, shall lodge a copy of his collection books in the clerk's office of Dorchester coun-
ty, to be open for the inspection of all persons interested in the same.

sheriff and collector of Charles county, that from various causes therein set forth he has not

sheriff and collector of said county, considerable sums of money, and praying that a law may pass to
