of such injury to, or impounding of said horned or black
cattle, sheep or hogs, then the justices of the peace to whom
complaint shall be made by the party aggrieved, shall have
authority to appoint an appraiser for and on behalf of the
party so neglecting or refusing.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That, it shall be duty of the
judges of elections of said district, to propound to the
voters of said district, at the ensuing October election, the
question, whether they are for or against this act, and if a
majority of said voters are in favor of this act, then it shall
be the duty of the judges of said district to announce the
fact, by publication, in some newspaper published in said
county, and upon such annunciation, this act shall become
a law, and not otherwise.

An act to incorporate the Friendship Lyceum of Friend-
ship, Anne Arundel county.
|
Preamble.
|
Whereas it is represented to this General Assembly,
that a number of the citizens of the village of Friendship,
Anne Arundel county, and its vicinity, have formed them-
selves into a society, with the praise worthy object to ac-
quire and diffuse useful knowledge. Therefore,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Cephas Simmons, William G. Deal, R. S.
D. Jones, Philip D. Sutton, James M. Freburgher, William
H. Cunningham, William Farrell, Joseph McKenney,
Henry M. Lutch, William T. Whittington, T. F. Robinson,
John H. Urguhart, Geo. D. Syles, William F. Lutch and
J. D. Childs, their associates, successors and assigns, be
and they are hereby created and declared to be one com-
munity, corporation and body politic, by the name, style
and title of the Friendship Lyceum of Friendship, Anne
Arundel county, and by that name shall have succession,
and shall be able and capable at law, and in equity, to sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be ans-
wered, in any court of law or equity, to make and use a
common seal, with such devices or inscriptions as they shall
think proper, and the same to alter and change at pleasure,
and ordain and establish such rules, by-laws and regula-
tions, not contrary to the laws of the land, or the
provisions of this act, as shall or may be necessary or
proper for conducting the affairs and effecting the objects
of the said corporation.
