Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be so construed as to authorise or empower
said corporation to issue any note, certificate, token or evi-

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall operate to exempt the estate, real, personal and
mixed of said corporation from taxation, under any of the
laws now in force in this State, or which may hereafter be
passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, but the same
shall be liable thereto to the same extent, as other estate,
real, personal or mixed within the State.

CHAPTER 59.

 

An act to authorise the commissioners of Cecil county, to levy
a sum of money to erect a bridge over Back Creek, at or
near Chesapeake City.

2, 1844.

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Kendall S. Cropper, Doctor John
Wirt and Edward Scanlin, be and they are hereby appoin-
ted commissioners for the purpose of locating and building
a bridge over said creek, and the said commissioners, or a
majority of them, are by this act empowered and authorised
to agree and contract with any person or persons, upon the
most economical terms, to construct said bridge.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That a majority of said com-
missioners, shall keep an accurate account of the money
expended in erecting said bridge, and in case there should
be any money left unexpended, after building the said
bridge, the same shall be returned to the commissioners of
Cecil county, to be applied for the benefit of the county.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That a majority of said com-
missions, shall be competent to transact any business relat-
ing to said bridge, and if either of said commissioners shall
die, resign or remove out of the county, the commissioners
of Cecil county, shall fill such vacancies, and the county
commissioners are hereby authorised to make such reason-
able compensation to said bridge commissioners, as they in
their judgment may deem right.
