chap. 326.

Not to exempt
company from
taxation.

Sec. 9. And he it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be construed to exempt the estate, real, personal
and mixed of said company from taxation, under any of the
laws now in force, in this State, or which may hereafter be
passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, but the same
shall be liable thereto, to the same extent as other estate,
real, personal and mixed within the State, and all taxes
assessed or levied upon said property, real personal and
mixed, shall be paid by the officers of said company, and
deducted ratably from the dividends and interest of the in-
dividual stockholders and owDers of certificates in said

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That this act shall go into
operation and be in force so soon as it shall receive the
assent of the stockholders, owners of a majority of the
shares of the capital stock of the present company, in
general meeting assembled, which assent under the cor-
porate seal of the company shall be filed in the office of

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be so construed as to authorise the said company
to issue any device, token, note, certificate or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.

may have been incurred by the said corporation before the
passage of this act, may be enforced against the said Gen-
eral Mutual Insurance Company as fully and effectually as
if this act had not passed.
Sec. 13. And be it enacted, That the General Assem-
bly hereby reserves to itself the power to repeal this char-
ter at its pleasure.

 

CHAPTER 326.

An act for the benefit of James B. Morris and Charles G.
Haslup, collectors of taxes of the fifth and sixth districts
in Howard District of Anne Arundel county, further
time to complete their collections.

Authorised to
collect

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That James B. Morris, collector of the sixth col-
lection district in Howard District of Anne Arundle county,
be and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to collect
any taxes or balances of taxes now remaining due to and un-
collected by him in the district aforesaid in the same manner
and with the same power and privileges as are allowed by
the existing laws in said cases made and provided.
