sioners of Baltimore county, to every effect intent and pur-
pose as if said proceedings had been returned within the
time limited by the act of assembly, heretofore passed and
in such cases made and provided. And that said commis-
sioners and any of them appointed in respect of said road
shall have the same powers and authority and be subject to
the same rules as to said return, as if by said acts of assem-
bly, the time for said return, would not expire until the end
of six months aforesaid, from and after the passage of this
act.

CHAP. 39.

CHAPTER 38.

 

An act for the benefit of Charles Perry of Hampshire
County, in the State of Virginia.

Passed Jan.
25, 1844.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act it shall and
may be lawful for Charles Perry, of Hampshire county, in
the State of Virginia, to remove his negro slaves from his
farms in Virginia, to Allegany county in the State of Mary-
land, and from his said farms in Allegany county, to his
farms in Hampshire county, in the State of Virginia, as
often and at such times as the said Charles Perry, may deem
fit, solely for the cultivation and improvement of said farms.

May remove
negroes.

Provided nevertheless, that the said Charles Perry, shall
first have complied with the provisions of the act of
assembly, passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and thirty-three, chapter eighty-seven, and the several
supplements thereto, requiring the payment of a tax for
the use of the colonization society; and the filing of a list
of said slaves with the clerk of Allegany county court.
And provided further, that the said Charles Perry, shall
not be required to comply with the provisions of the afore-
going acts, requiring the payment of a tax for the use of
the colonization society but once, for the privilege granted
by this act

CHAPTER 39.

 

An act to change the name of Martin Luther Purtle, to
that of Martin Luther Wall of Dorchester County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Martin Luther Purtle, of Dorchester
