An act for the relief of Christian Shafer of Washington
County.

Passed Jan.
22, 1844.

Whereas it has been represented to this General
Assembly, that Christian Shafer, of Washington county, is
now confined in the jail of said county, because of his
inability to give the security required by law for the main-
tenance of an illegitimate child, charged to be his, there-
fore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Washington county,
be and are hereby authorised and empowered, to direct the
sheriff of said county, to discharge, from his custody, Chris-
tian Shafer, charged with being the father of an illegitimate
child, upon the said Christian Shafer, giving such bail as
the said commissioners may direct, provided he is not in

An act to change the place of holding elections in the first
election district of Anne Arundel County.

Maryland, That the judges of elections and their suc-
cessors in the first election district, in Anne Arundel
county, are hereby required to hold all future elections for
Governor, Delegates to the General Assembly, Senators,
