CHAPTER 231.

An act to make valid a deed from John Gassaway and wife
to Richard Cromwell.

Passed March
4, 1844.

Whereas by the petition of Richard Cromwell and
John Gassaway of Montgomery county, it is represented to
this General Assembly, that the said John Gassaway and
Eliza Gassaway his wife, did on the sixteenth day of May
eighteen hundred and thirty-two, execute and acknowledge
a deed to said Richard Cromwell, for part of a tract of
land, called the " Resurvey on Friend in Need, " lying in
said county, and in the acknowledgement of said deed the
words justices of the peace of the county and State afore-

said were omitted. Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the deed made on the sixteenth of May, eighteen
hundred and thirty-two, by John Gassaway and Eliza his
wife, to Richard Cromwell of Montgomery county, and
recorded in Liber B. S. number five, folios one hundred and
sixty-nine and one hundred and seventy, one of the land
records of said county, be and the same is hereby declared
to be as effectual and valid in law and equity, as if no in-
formality or defect existed in the acknowledgement of said
deed.

Made valid.

CHAPTER 232.

 

An act to confirm certain proceedings of the commissioners
of Worcester county and for other purposes.

Passed March
4, 1844.

Whereas by the repeal of the act passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and twenty-seven, chapter one
hundred and eight, the trustees of the poor for Worcester
county, were left without any provision or compensation;
and whereas the commissioners of said county, beleiving
that they ought of right to be paid for their services, have
since the repeal of the aforesaid act, allowed said trustees
what they thought a reasonable compensation. Therefore,

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly
Maryland, That the acts of the commissioners of Worces-
ter county, in so far as they have allowed to said trustees a
sum not exceeding one dollar and fifty cents, for every day
in which they may have been actually employed in the dis-
charge of their duties as trustees as aforesaid, be and the
