sure to alter, amend or repeal this act of incorporation.

 

CHAPTER 57.

. An act for the relief of Rickard Brooke, of Montgomery
County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it has been represented to the General As-
sembly of Maryland, by the petition of Richard Brooke,
of Montgomery county, that a mistake owing to no fault of
his, has occured in the assessment of his property in so far
as it relates, to the private security held by him, and due
the estate of Gerard Brooke, whose administrator he is;
therefore,

Commission-
en to correct,
&c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Commissioners of Montgomery coun-
ty, be and they are hereby empowered to re-examine the as-
sessment of the property of the said Richard Brooke, and
if it be proven to their satisfaction, that an error has been
committed by the assessors, in valuing the bonds, notes, or
other private security held by Richard Brooke as exe-
cutor of Gerard Brooke, under the provisions of the act,
passed at March session, eighteen hundred and forty-one,
chapter twenty-three, entitled, an act for the general valua-
tion and assessment of property in this State, and to pro-
vide a tax to pay the debts of the State, or any supplement
thereto, they shall be, and hereby are authorised and em-
powered to correct any error in said assessment, and the
collector charged with the collections of the tax, from said
Richard Brooke, is hereby directed to forbear from col-
lecting the same, until said commissioners shall determine
what abatement shall be made in said assessment, and that
then said collector shall collect only so much taxes as may
be due from the said Richard Brooke, according to such
corrected assessment.
