in any case be issued for a less sum than five dollars, unless
the same be for interest due on a single bond or certificate.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the Stirling coupons
shall be calculated at four dollars and eighty-four cents, for
the pound sterling and at such rates as are now or may
hereafter be established by act of Congress, and the Trea-
surer of the western shore is hereby instructed to provide
the several collectors of the state tax, with a table of equi-
valents showing the value of the pound sterling and its frac-
tional parts in federal currency.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the commissioner of
loans shall receive as compensation for issuing the certifi-
cates required by this act, one half per centum upon the
amount, he may issue to be paid by the persons respectively
upon and at whose instance the same may be issued.

A supplement to the act entitled, an act to prevent Gaming)
passed at December session, one thousand eight hundred
and twenty-six, chapter eighty-eight.

Guilty of 4
misdemeanor.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall not be lawful to keep a gaming
table, and that any one who shall keep a gaming table, shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor, and for every such offence shall
pay a fine of one hundred dollars, and any person who shall
at any time hereafter appear, act or behave, as the person
having the care, government or management of a gaming
table, shall be deemed and taken as the keeper thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That every one who shall keep
a gaming house, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and for
each offence shall pay a fine of one hundred dollars.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That every one who shall
bet, or wager either directly or indirectly, money or any
other thing, at any of the gaming tables prohibited by this
act, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and for such offence
shall pay a fine of twenty dollars, and each bet or wager
shall be considered a separate offence under this act.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That every Faro Table, E-
O. table, Equality, or any other kind of gaming table (Bil-
liard table excepted) al which the game faro, equality, or
any other game of chance shall be played for money, or any
other thing, any such table shall be deemed a gaming table
within the meaning of this act.
