LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Logan Tribe number one, of the improved order of Red
Men, and their successors, he and they are hereby declared
to be a community, corporation and body politic, by the
name and style and title of Logan Tribe No. one, of the
Improved Order of Red Men, and by that name they
and their successors shall and may at all times hereafter be
capable in law to have, receive and retain, to them and
their successors, property real and personal, also devises
and bequests of any person or persons, bodies corporate or
politic, capable of making the same, and the same at their
pleasure to transfer or dispose of in such manner as they

may think proper; provided always, that the said corpora-
tion or body politic shall not at any time hold or possess
property exceeding the sum of ten thousand dollars.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
and their successors, by the name and title aforesaid, shall
be hereafter capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend and
be defended in all or any courts of justice and before all

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful to and for the said corporation to have and make a
common seal for their use, and the same to change alter
or renew from time to time, at their pleasure, and shall in-
general have and exercise all such rights, privileges and im-
munities, as by law are incident or necessary to corpora
tions, and which may be necessary to enable the said cor-
poration to carry fully into effect their benevolent intentions
fur the relief of the sick and distressed of their said cor-
poration, and for the promotion of the laudable purposes of
their order.

Common seal.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the said corporation
shall have power to pass bye-laws from time to time for the
better government of the said corporation and carrying into
effect the charitable objects of their association; provided
the same are not inconsistent with the provisions of this
charter or the laws of this State.

Proviso.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That it shall and may be
lawful for the general assembly at any time to demand a
statement of the amount of property belonging to the said
corporation and of the debts due to and by the said corpo-
ration and the purposes for which disbursements shall have
been made, and also to inspect the books and general ac-
counts of the said corporation.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the General Assembly
of Maryland hereby reserves the right to change, alter or
annul this act of incorporation at any time.
