CHAP. 277

by the collection books of said deceased, that there was due
to said Caples a considerable amount of taxes at the time of
his death, which still remains uncollected, and that the said
Mary Caples, as administratrix of the said Caples, has paid
to the commissioners of Baltimore county the whole amount
of said taxes, which is still due and owing by sundry persons
to the estate of the deceased—therefore,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said Mary Caples, may by her lawful-
ly authorized attorney or agent, proceed to collect any
taxes or balance of taxes now remaining due to the estate
of the said Jacob Caples, deceased, and uncollected by him
before his death, in the seventh collection district of Balti-
more county, in the same manner and with the same powers
and privileges as the said Jacob Caples shall not be entitled
to collect any bill of taxes from any person or persons, who
shall make oath or affirmation as the case may be, before
some justice of the peace in and for Baltimore county, that
he or they do not owe said taxes, and that she believe said
taxes have been paid.

Make affida-
vit.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid Mary Ca-
ples shall in every instance before she may proceed to the
collection as aforesaid, of any bill of taxes, make affidavit
before some justice of the peace of Baltimore county, that
the same remains unpaid, and that there hath not been re-
ceived by her late husband, or by herself as administratrix
aforesaid, any security or satisfaction for the same or any
part thereof, more than what credit or credits are obtained
thereon.

In farce one
year.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall not contin-
ue in force longer than one year from the date of the pas-
sage thereof,

An act to authorize Joseph Fowler to invest the Estate of
his ward John S. Fowler, under the. direction of the Or-
phans Court of Prince George's. County.

To be inves-

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Joseph Fowler, guardian of his son John S. Fowler,
be and he is hereby authorized to invest the estate of his
said ward in such real or personal property or security as
the orphans court of Prince George's county may order and
direct, and to take a proper deed or conveyance in the name
