chap. 233.

which balance, by his petition to this General Assembly, the
said executor of William Stewart hath agreed to relinquish;
and whereas, it so appears, that all the debts of said Caleb
Batson, Have been paid and that no claims have been pre-
sented to the administrator de bonis non, although notice to
creditors has been published by him, agreeably to the order
of said orphans court; and it also appears, that the said ad-
ministrator de bonis non, since the settlement of his afore-
said administration account and relinquishment of his afore-
said claim on said Batson's estate, has applied all the pro-
ceeds and avails of the industry of said negroes, to their
support and maintenance, and that he is desirous of being
relieved from the burthen of so employing and so supporting
them—therefore,

Free.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the aforesaid Letty Batson, Adaline Bat-
son, Daniel Batson, Caleb Batson, Duke Batson, William
Batson, Brice Batson, Granville Batson, Thomas Batson,
Galen Batson, Jim Buckanan, John Henry Buckanan, George
Washington Buckanan and Lloyd Buckanan, be and they

are hereby declared free; provided, that within twelve
months from the passage of this act, they leave the State of
Maryland and never return thereto.

Orphans
court to make
allowance.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the orphans court or in
the recess of the court, the register of wills of Calvert
county, be and they are hereby authorized in settling the fi-
nal account of said administrator de bonis non, to make an
allowance to him for the valuation and appraisement of said

negroes as charged to him; provided nevertheless, that he
shall be accountable for the estate, if any, of said Caleb
Batson, that may have come into his hands since the settle-
ment of his last administration account, after applying the
said estate so far as may be necessary to satisfy any balance
due to said administrator de bonis non.

late Collector of the Taxes of Allegany County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Michael C. Sprigg and others, securities
of Israel Mayberry, late collector of Allegany county, for
the year eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to collect any and all
