RESOLUTIONS.

1840.

authorise the printing an increase number of the Laws for
that purpose.

No. 6.

Resolution in favor of Colonel C. M. Thruston.

WHEREAS, the committee on claims of the House of
Delegates, of December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty-nine, did, on the ninth day of March, eighteen hun-
dred and forty, (See House Journal, page four hundred
and sixty-one, ) report specifically in favor of certain claims
for supplies furnished the militia engaged under Colonel C.
M. Thruston, in suppressing the riots on the line of the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, during the preceding summer;
and did accompany said report with a resolution directing
the Treasurer of the Western Shore to pay Colonel Charles
M. Thruston, the sum of four hundred and forty-seven
dollars and twenty-one cents, for the purpose mentioned in
the report; and whereas, by reference to the Journal of the
House, of December session, page six hundred and twen-
ty-seven, it appears, that the resolution in favor of Colonel
Charles M. Thruston and others, was returned from the
Senate, assented to and ordered to be engrossed; showing
evidently that the Legislature acknowledged the justice of
the said claims, and, ordered their payment; and whereas,
the publication of the said resolution has been accidently
omitted by the publishing of the laws of the session afore-
said, of the General Assembly — therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the Western Shore, pay to Colonel C. M.
Thruston, the sum of four hundred and forty seven dollars
and twenty-one cents, being the amount due for supplies
furnished the troops under his command, when on an ex-
pedition against the rioters on the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal, which sum he is to pay over to the respective claim-
ants.

Passed Jan. 9,
1841.
