An act to divorce Francis Grupy, of Baltimore County,
from his wife Sarah B. Grupy.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Francis Grupy be and lie is hereby divorced from his
wife Sarah B. Grupy, a vinculo matrimonii.

CHAPTER 240.

Divorced.

An act to incorporate the St. Joseph's Beneficial Society
of Baltimore.

1841.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly
of Maryland, That Andrew Martin, Jacob Fleishell, Wil-
liam H. Kreager, Edward Medcalf, Bennet Wheeler and
others of the city of Baltimore, have formed themselves
into a society for the purpose of aiding each other in case
of sickness or death, and are desirous of obtaining an act of
incorporation, to enable them the more fully to carry into
effect their benevolent designs — Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the aforesaid persons, and such other per-
sons as may hereafter be admitted into the said society,
agreeably to its present constitution, rules and by-laws of
the same, or such regulations as may hereafter be made and
adopted by the said society, shall be and they and their
successors are hereby declared to be one community, cor-

poration and body politic, by the name and style of the

by that name they shall be and are hereby made able and
capable in law, to have, purchase, receive, hold, possess,
enjoy and retain to them and their successors, in fee, or less
estate or estates, any lands, grounds, tenements, rents or
annuities, whether the same be acquired by gift, purchase
or devise, or from any person or persons, bodies politic or
corporate, capable to make the same, and the same proper-
ty to alean, sell or transfer in such manner as they may
judge most conducive to the benevolent uses of the society;

litic, shall not at any one time hold or possess property,
real, personal or mixed, exceeding in total value the sum of
eight thousand dollars.
