CHAP. 221.

Guardianship
of children.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Nancy Myers
shall have the custody and guardianship of her children,
whose rights shall not be in any manner affected by the pas-
sage of this act.

An act to incorporate the Trustees of Washington Acade-
my, in Cecil County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, a number of the citizens of Cecil county have
built a school house and organized a public school, and
elected the following persons as trustees, viz: Jesse Janney,
John Janney, William Edmondson, William Brickley and
John A. Brown, and have prayed an act of incorporation —
therefore,

Incorporated.

Corporate pow-

ers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said trustees above named, and their
successors, shall be a body corporate, and shall have per-
petual succession by the name and style of the Trustees of
Washington Academy, and by that name may sue and be
sued, and have a corporate seal, which they may break, al-
ter and change at pleasure; may hold property to an amount
not exceeding two thousand dollars, and dispose of the
same; may make by-laws not contrary to the laws of this
State, and do all other acts necessary for the regulation,
prosperity, and the promotion of education in said acade-
my.

Vacancies.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when a vacancy occurs
in the board of trustees, the same shall be filled by an elec-
tion; and at such elections, every free white citizen that
may have contributed to the said academy to the amount
of one dollar, shall be entitled to vote for trustees at such,
election.

If any trustee
neglect duties
of his office.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any trustee shall ne-
glect to attend to the duties of his office for the space of
twelve months, his place shall be considered vacant.
