CHAPTER 218.
An act to incorporate the Trustees of the Grove School-
House, in Cecil County.
|

ers, &c.
|
WHEREAS, a number of the citizens of Cecil county
have built a school house and organized a public school,
and elected the following persons as trustees thereof, viz:
William W. Rutter, James W. Rutter, Joseph S. Wingate,
Johannes Arrants and James Alexander, and have prayed
an act of incorporation — therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said trustees above named, and their
successors, shall be a body corporate, and shall have per-
petual succession by the name and style of the Trustees of
the Grove School House; and by that name may sue and be
sued, and have a corporate seal, which they may break, al-
ter and change at pleasure; may hold property to an amount
not exceeding two thousand dollars, and dispose of the same;
may make by-laws not contrary to the laws of this State,
and do all other acts necessary for the regulation, prosperi-
ty, and the promotion of education in said school house.

Vacancy.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when a vacancy occurs
in the board of trustees, the same shall be filled by an elec-
tion; and at such elections, every free white citizen that
may have contributed to the said school house to the amount
of one dollar, shall be entitled to vote for trustees at such
election.

If any trustee
neglect duties
of his office.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any trustee shall ne-
glect to attend to the duties of his office for the space of
twelve months, his place shall be considered vacant.

An act for the opening of a new Alley, and for the sale of
part of Cherry Alley, in the Town of Cumberland.

Alley directed
to be opened.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new alley be opened on the west side
of Wills' creek, in the town of Cumberland, to be of the
usual width of alleys in said town, and to be called Court
House Alley, beginning at the southwest corner of lot num-
ber sixty-six in said town, at the court house square, and
running thence eastwardly parallel with Washington street
