CHAPTER 152.

Passed Feb. 26,
1841.

An act, entitled an act for the benefit of Joseph Knox, of
Washington County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it hath been represented to this General As-
sembly, that Joseph Knox, a citizen of Washington county, in
this state, having emigrated to the United States, when a child;
and having also accumulated real estate, prior to his be-
coming a naturalized citizen thereof, and wishing to have
his title made good for the same — therefore,

Deeds made va-
lid.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That all deeds and conveyances of lands made to the said
Joseph Knox, before he became a naturalized citizen of the
United States, and which may have been recorded either
in Frederick or Washington counties, be and the same are
hereby made and declared as good and valid in law, as if
the same had been executed subsequent to his being natura-
lized.

CHAPTER 153.

Passed Feb. 23
1841.

An act authorising the Commissioners of Tax of Carroll
County, to levy a sum of money to build a Bridge over
Piney Creek, on the Road from Frederick to York.

Authorised to
levy $3000 to
build bridge.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of lax of Carroll
county, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered,
in their discretion, to levy on the assessable property of
said county, a sum of money, not exceeding three thousand
dollars, in three equal annual instalments, for the purpose
of building a bridge over Piney creek, at Peters', Ford, on
the road from Frederick to York.

To contract for
building.

And take bond.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the said commissioners,
be and they are hereby authorised to contract with any per-
son or persons to build said bridge, and are required to
take bond or bonds, with sufficient security, from any con-
tractor or contractors, for the faithful performance of the
contract, in the usual form.
