CHAP. 149.

CHAPTER 148.

Passed Feb. 26,
1841.

An act to authorise the Consistory of the German Evan-
gelical Reformed Congregation of Middletown, in Fre-
derick County, to purchase two acres of Land.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this legislature, that the
burial ground belonging to the Consistory of the German
Evangelical Reformed Congregation, is nearly filled up;
and whereas, by the thirty-fourth article of the Bill of
Rights, no sect, order or denomination is allowed to pur-
chase or accept any gift, lease or devise of any quantity of
land, exceeding two acres, without the leave of the legis-
lature — therefore,

May purchase
two acres land.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Consistory of the German Evangelical Reformed
Congregation of Middletown, in Frederick county, be and
they are hereby authorised to purchase two acres of land,
in addition to what they now hold, to be used as a burial
ground, and for no other purpose whatever.

CHAPTER 149.

Passed Feb. 26,
1841.

An act for the benefit of the Devisees of William Trim-
ble, late of Baltimore County, deceased.

Executor may
lease lot of
ground.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John Reese, surviving executor of the last will of
William Trimble, late of Baltimore county, deceased, be
and he is hereby authorised to lease, for ninety-nine years,
with the privilege of renewment forever, a lot of ground
recovered by said Reese and Archibald George, executors
of said will, in a suit in Baltimore county court, against
Spencer Pitt, at January term, eighteen hundred and thir-

ty-five; provided, the said John Reese procures as high an
annual rent, as forty-two dollars per annum, the original
rent of said lot; and provided, that the rent be reserved,
according to the title of the devisees, in the will of said
William Trimble.
