in the former corporate name of said town.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of
acts, inconsistent with this law, shall be repealed from and
after the time the same takes effect, as is hereinbefore pro-
vided.

An act for the relief of Christian Tabler, of Berkely
County, in the State of Virginia.

Passed Jan. 28,
1841.

WHEREAS, it is represented by the petition of Christian
Tabler, of Berkely county, in the State of Virginia, that
on the sixth day of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-
six, he being then a citizen of Frederick county, Mary-
land, purchased of Henry Feaster, of said county, a negro
girl, named Miriam, a servant for a term of years, and at
the time of said purchase, there was a bill of sale which
bears date on the clay aforesaid, drawn up in conformity
with the provisions of the act of eighteen hundred and se-
venteen, chapter one hundred and twelve, which was duly
executed and acknowledged by said Feaster, the vender,
according to the provisions of said act, but was never exe-
cuted and acknowledged by said Tabler, and has not been
recorded; and whereas, the petition of Christian Tabler
further represents, that he is now a bona fide resident and
citizen of Berkely county, Virginia, and that he is desirous
of removing the said negro girl Miriam from the State of
Maryland — therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for the clerk
of Frederick county court to record said bill of sale, and
that said bill of sale, when so recorded, shall have the same
validity, force and effect, as if the same had been executed
in the manner, and recorded within the time prescribed by
the act of eighteen hundred and seventeen, chapter one
hundred and twelve.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be law-
ful for the said Christian Tabler to remove said negro
girl Miriam, from the Slate of Maryland, with her consent,
subject to the condition, that before he makes said removal,
he shall file with the clerk of Frederick county, a bond to
the State of Maryland, executed by himself, with a security,
who shall be a citizen of the State of Maryland, to be ap-
