WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR. 949

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Dorchester County", sub-title "Cambridge", said
section to be known as Section 63C, and to follow immediately
after Section 63B of said Article and to read as follows:

63C. In addition to the power of The Commissioners of
Cambridge under Section 63 to borrow on negotiable paper
up to Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00), the said The Com-
missioners of Cambridge are hereby authorized and em-
powered to borrow and to pledge the faith and credit of said
town by the issuance of negotiable paper to the extent of
Fifteen Thousand Dollars (f 15, 000. 00), which said sum shall
be over and above the amount now authorized by Section 63.
The total amount borrowed by authority of Sections 63 and
this section shall at no time exceed the aggregate sum of
Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25, 000. 00) unless expressly
authorized by statute. Any sum so borrowed must be paid
off in the next succeeding fiscal year, and the said The Com-
missioners of Cambridge are hereby required to make pro-
vision for payment in its budget and tax levy next following
the borrowing of any money under these sections.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 550)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
89 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Charles County", sub-title
"County Treasurer", as amended by Chapter 634 of the
Acts of 1947, increasing the salary of the Assistant Treas-
urer of Charles County.
