CHAPTER 388
(House Bill 510)

AN ACT to repeal Section 51 of Article 14 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, Flack's Edition of 1930,
title "Howard County", sub-title "Court Stenographer",
as the same was enacted by Chapter 652, of the Acts of
1945, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 51 of Article 14 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, Flack's Edition of 1930, as said
section was enacted by Chapter 652 of the Acts of 1945, be,
and the same is hereby, repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows; that is to say:

51. The Circuit Court for Howard County shall appoint
a competent Court Stenographer, who shall be a sworn officer
of said Court, shall hold his or her office at said Court's
pleasure, and shall be entitled to such salary, as said Court
may, from time to time, prescribe, to be levied annually by
the County Commissioners of Howard County, and paid in
such installments, and at such times, as the other County
employees are paid. Said Court may, also, from time to time,
whenever, in its opinion, the same is expedient, appoint
special Court Reporters and prescribe their duties and com-
pensation; and the compensation, so prescribed, shall be paid
by said County Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

(House Bill 526)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
166 and 167 of Article 9 of the. Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County", sub-
title "La Plata", as said sections were amended by Chapter
575 of the Acts of 1943, relating generally to the Town
Commissioners of La Plata and to their election.
