(b) The Superintendent of Maryland State Police is author-
ized, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, to
order any member in service who shall have attained the age
of fifty-five to retire on the first day of the next calendar
month after which such member shall be notified of the Super-
intendent's order, provided, that said Board, before giving its
approval as aforesaid, shall first give at least 10 days notice
to the member concerned and afford him an opportunity to be
heard.
(c) Any member in service who has attained the age of
sixty-four shall be retired on the first day of the next calendar
month after attaining such age.
ALLOWANCE FOR SERVICE RETIREMENT
(2) Upon retirement for service a member shall receive a
service retirement allowance which shall consist of:
(a) An annuity which shall be the actuarial equivalent of
his accumulated contributions at the time of retirement; and
(b) For each year of membership service, a pension which
shall be equal to one one-hundredth of his average final com-
pensation for each of the first twenty-five years of creditable
service, and one one-hundred and twentieth of his average final
compensation for each year after the first twenty-five years
of creditable service; and
(c) If he has a prior service certificate in full force and
effect, an additional pension for each year of prior service
which shall be equal to one-fiftieth of his average final com-
pensation for each of the first twenty-five years of creditable
service, and one-sixtieth of his average final compensation for
each year after the first twenty-five years of creditable service,
and
(d) If he was an employee prior to the date of establish-
ment, a supplemental pension which shall be equal to the
actuarial equivalent of the amount by which his accumulated
contributions if begun at the date of establishment and con-
tinued until the time of retirement at the rate applicable to
a member of his age at the date of establishment would ex-
ceed his actual contributions at the time of retirement.
ORDINARY DISABILITY RETIREMENT BENEFIT
(3) Upon the application of a member in service or of his
department head, any member who has had ten or more years
of creditable service may be retired by the Board of Trustees,
not less than thirty and not more than ninety days next
