720 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 290

Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County, "
sub-title "Mt. Airy, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments to read as follows:

213. All persons qualified to vote within the limits of
said corporation shall register with the clerk of said cor-
poration in the town register a; t least fifteen days prior to
the election of the Mayor and Council of said corporation,
or fifteen days prior to any special election or referendum,
as the case may be.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 290

(Senate Bill 458)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 274 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-
title New Windsor", increasing the maximum tax rate
of the Town of New Windsor and removing an obsolete
provision from said section.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 274 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County",
sub-title "New Windsor", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments,, to read as follows:

274. Said Commissioners shall cause to be an assess-
ment from time to time of all property, real and personal,
within the limits of the said town, and shall levy a tax
upon all such property, not to exceed, in any one year,
seventy-five cents on the one hundred dollars, as they
may deem necessary for the said corporate government
expenses; and said Commissioners may borrow, to be
used for corporate purposes, a sum not exceeding three
thousand dollars before the collection of said taxes, which
debt shall be cancelled as rapidly as the collection of taxes
succeeding said borrowing will permit.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.
