SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new section be
and it is hereby added to Article 64A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Merit System", said
new section to be known as Section 3C, to follow immediately
after Section 3B of said Article and to read as follows:
3C. On and after July 1, 1949, the following positions
shall be included in the Classified Service of the State, and
persons holding said positions on July 1, 1949 who shall have
held said positions for at least six (6) months prior thereto
shall be considered a part of and shall hold their positions in
the Classified Service in accordance with Article 64A and
shall be continued in said positions without examination: all
employees of the Income Tax Division, the Admissions Tax
Division and the Alcoholic Beverages Division of the State
Comptroller's Office and of the Maryland Veterans' Commis-
sion, and the Director of the State Planning Commission; and
the principal clerk, the senior stenographer, the. typist, and
the two clerks of the State Board of Hairdressers and Beauty
Culturists.
The rate of compensation for any person who has held his
position for a period of six (6) months or longer as of July
1, 1949, shall not be decreased as a result of being included
in the Classified Service.
SEC. 3. And ~be> it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

(Senate Bill 24)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3
of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, as said
section was amended by Chapter 74 of the Acts of the
Special Session of 1947, clarifying the provisions of said
section and increasing the compensation of certain Super-
visors of Elections.
WHEREAS,, through an oversight, Chapter 74 of 1947 did
not include the amendments made at the regular session of
1947; and
WHEREAS, it is desired to remove any doubt as to whether
said 1947 amendments are in effect; now therefore
