lars ($20, 000. 00) for the purpose of acquiring a site for and
erecting a suitable monument to the men and women of
Baltimore County who served their County in the recent
war.
WHEREAS, the citizens of Baltimore County desire to pay
fitting tribute to those gallant men and women of the County
who served their country in the recent war; and
WHEREAS, the County Commissioners of Baltimore County
appointed a War Memorial Committee which has agreed upon
a suitable monument for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the expense of such
a memorial should be defrayed from public funds; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That, the County Commissioners of Baltimore County
are hereby authorized and empowered to expend from the
general funds of the County a sum not to exceed Twenty
Thousand Dollars (f20, 000. 00) for the purpose of acquiring a
site for and erecting a suitable monument to the men and
women of said County who served their country in the recent
war.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
