WHEREAS,, it is also believed that it would be more desir-
able to limit the hunting of wild waterfowl to three days each
week, and to be between sunrise and sunset; now therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service, U. S. Dept. of the
Interior, be and he is hereby requested to modify the regula-
tions governing the hunting of wild waterfowl in Maryland
by providing that the open season for hunting wild waterfowl
in Maryland shall be from November 15 each year until
January 15 of the following year, that the hunting of wild
waterfowl be limited to three days each week during said
open season, and between sunrise and sunset; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
directed to send a copy of this resolution, under the Great
Seal of the State of Maryland, to the Director of the Fish and
Wildlife Service, U. S. Dept. of the Interior, Washington, D. C.

(House Joint Resolution 5)

Joint Resolution relating to poisonous fumes discharged by
industrial plants.

WHEREAS, one of the evils attendant upon the development
of an urban industrialized society is the discharge of obnox-
ious and sometimes poisonous gases by large factories; and

WHEREAS, these conditions exist in a number of areas of
the State of Maryland, particularly in parts of South and
East Baltimore and also in other industrialized communi-
ties in the State; and

WHEREAS, at times these fumes have actually burned holes
in the clothing of workers, etched glass windows, pitted
paints, corroded metal and killed trees, plants and shrubs;
and

WHEREAS, on some occasions employees and workers in
these areas have been so badly affected by these fumes that
work has had to be suspended; and

WHEREAS, the dangers inherent in such conditions are
vividly illustrated by the recent disaster in the small com-
