of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Marriages", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

12. The Clerk of the Court shall receive two dollars for
every license issued as aforesaid and for the performance
of the other duties required by this Article. In Cecil County,
he shall be paid an additional two dollars for every license
and shall annually remit the proceeds of said additional fee
to the County Treasurer at the end of every calendar year,
for use as general funds of the county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 737
(House Bill 519)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
17 of Article 78B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Racing Commission, " relating
to trotting and pacing meetings in Frederick County and
making this Act subject to a referendum of the voters of
said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 17 of Article 78B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Racing Commis-
sion, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

17. In addition to the licensing of racing as hereinbefore
provided, the Commission is authorized in its discretion to
issue licenses for the holding of trotting and pacing meetings
at which there may be offered stakes, purses or awards, and
the Commission shall have supervisory powers over such
meetings and those licensed in the same manner and to the
same extent, where not inappropriate, as it has by virtue
of the provisions of this Article over those licensed under
the provisions of Sections 7 and 15 of this Article, provided,
however, that under this section not more than one license
with pari-mutuel betting privilege shall be issued in any
County or in Baltimore City and that no such license shall
