1810 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 730

SEC. 2. And be> it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 730

(House Bill 427)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 7
of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland, 1947
Supplement, title "State Roads", providing that said section
shall not apply to those counties or county road departments
desiring to do construction or improvement work on county
roads with their own forces, provided the estimated cost of
any such proposed project shall not exceed Six Thousand
Five Hundred Dollars; and providing that in those counties
in which the County roads are maintained by the State
Roads Commission, the State Roads Commission may con-
struct and improve such roads by its own forces where the
proposed project shall not exceed $6, 500; and provided
further that the said County Commissioners shall file with
the State Roads Commission within six months after the
end of each calendar year, or fiscal year if the said County
is operating on that basis, a complete report with respect
to each project constructed during said calendar and/or
fiscal year, as the case may be, which shall include a full
audit of all accounts of said County Commissioners relating
to each said project, and an engineering statement setting
forth separately and in detail all items of costs incurred.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 7 of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, 1947 Supplement, title "State Roads", be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so
as to read as follows:

7. (a) The said Commission, when about to construct any
highway, shall advertise for at least two weeks in one or more
newspapers published in each county in which the highway
lies, and for three consecutive issues in at least one daily
newspaper published in Baltimore City, for sealed proposals
for the construction of said highway, accurately describing
the same and 'stating the time and place for opening said
proposals, and reserving the right to reject any and all pro-
posals; said proposals shall be publicly opened at the time
specified in s#Ld advertisement, and the contract for such
