AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Town
Council of North Brentwood, Maryland, with the approval
of the qualified voters of said town, to levy and collect an-
nually a special assessment of not to exceed ten cents on a
hundred dollars based on the assessed valuation of all real
property in the town, appearing on the books of the town;
the money so levied and collected to be paid to the Brent-
wood Volunteer Fire Department Inc., for furnishing fire
protection to the Town of North Brentwood.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Town Council of North Brentwood,
Maryland, a Municipal Corporation, be and it is hereby auth-
orized and empowered to levy and collect annually a special
assessment of not to exceed ten cents on each one hundred
dollars of assessed valuation, according to the assessed valua-
tion, appearing on the books of the Town Treasurer of said
town, on all real property situated in the town of North
Brentwood; the money derived from said special assessment
to be paid to the Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department
Inc.; for fire protection so long as they provide adequate
fire protection to the residents and the property within the
corporate limits of the Town of North Brentwood, Maryland.
And it is further provided that the Mayor and Town
Council of the Town of North Brentwood shall pay the above
mentioned Special Assessment to the Brentwood Volunteer
Fire Department Inc., until such time as the Town of North
Brentwood or some volunteer fire company within the town,
has or maintains a fire company approved by the Maryland
Fire Underwriters Rotary Bureau.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the Mayor and Town
Council of the Town of North Brentwood are hereby author-
ized and empowered to collect the Special Assessment pro-
vided for in Section 1 hereof in the same manner and with
the same penalties as is provided in the Charter of the Town
of North Brentwood for the collection of taxes on real
property.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That before this Act shall
become effective, the Mayor and Town Council of North
Brentwood shall submit the question of a Special Assess-
ment to provide money to pay the Brentwood Volunteer Fire
Department Inc., for fire protection to the qualified voters
of said Town at next regular municipal election.
