SEC. 2. And &e it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
2-1 and 2-HH of the Maryland Washington Regional Dis-
trict Act, as enacted by Chapter 992 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January
Session in the year 1943 as the said sections were repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, by Chapters 761 and
762, respectively, of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland passed at its January Session in the year 1947,
and as the same now appear for convenience of reference
as Section 732 and Section 757, respectively of Article 16
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1947 Edi-
tion), title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Maryland-
Washington Regional District", and as Section 978 and
Section 1003, respectively, of Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1943 Edition), title
"Prince George's County", sub-title "Maryland-Washington
Regional District"; the said amendments hereby made pro-
viding, respectively, that the Maryland-National Capital
Park and Planning Commission shall not be obliged to pub-
lish building regulations or the Building Code prior to
their adoption but shall be authorized to adopt any such
regulations or said entire Code or any amendments thereof
after public hearing, of which notice shall be published, and
that the said Commission may provide in its Sub-division
Regulations for the reservation of lands for schools and
other public buildings and public purposes; to add a new
section to the said Maryland-Washington Regional District
Act to1 be designated as Section 2-OO, and to follow imme-
diately after Section 2NN of the said Act as said section
was enacted by the said Chapter 992 of the Acts of the
General Assembly in the year 1943, the purpose of the said
new Section 2-OO being to authorize the said Commission
to exercise its powers and functions under the said Act in
portions of Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, out-
side the boundaries of the said Maryland-Washington
Regional District upon the request of the governmental
agency having jurisdiction over the area to which the said
request is applicable; to prescribe new salaries for the mem-
