Act becomes effective, in and to any lien acquired under any
prior Charter of the Town, are hereby preserved for the
holder in all respects as if this Act had not been adopted,
together with all rights and remedies in relation thereto.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this
Act shall be construed as changing or interrupting the tenure
of the Town Commissioners holding such office at the time
this Act takes effect.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 576
(House Bill 524)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
365 of Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Somerset County", sub-title
"Revenue and Taxes", as amended by Chapter 894 of the
Acts of 1947, authorizing an increase in salary of the
Deputy County Treasurer of Somerset County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted "by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 365 of Article 20 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Somerset
County", sub-title "Revenue and Taxes", as amended by Chap-
ter 894 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

365. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall per-
form such duties as the said Treasurer may require, and for
whose official conduct said Treasurer shall be responsible, and
who shall act for said Treasurer during the Treasurer's
absence; the salary of the said Deputy shall be as set by
the County Commissioners of Somerset County, to be not less
than |2, 000. 00 nor more than $2, 500. 00 annually, and shall
be paid on a monthly basis.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
