SECTION 1. Be it enacted by tine General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 409 of Article 8 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil
County", sub-title "Rising Sun", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
409. The President and Commissioners shall have power
to levy and collect taxes in said town not exceeding in any
one year One Dollar on the Hundred Dollars on the assess-
able property in said town, and once in every five years,
or oftener if they think proper, they shall assess and
value the property in said town in the same manner and
with like authority as county assessors; provided, that in
assessing any of the lands within the town which may be
occupied as farms or may be part of farms, such lands shall
be valued and assessed at its market value as lots of four
acres of ground, with the buildings and improvements there-
on, and shall not be valued and assessed by the number of
acres therein.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal Section 542 of Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Alle-
gany County", sub-title "Roads", relating to salaries of
Road Directors of Allegany County, and to repeal and re-
enact Section 94A of said Code, sub-title "County Com-
missioners", relating to certain payments as compensation
for services as and to the Road Commissioners of said
County.
WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 542 of Article 1 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Allegany County", sub-title "Roads", have been rendered
obsolete by (1) the repeal and re-enactment of Section 537 of
Article 1 of said Code by Chapter 574 of the Acts of 1933,
which abolished the Board of Road Directors and transferred
the functions of said Board to the Board of County Commis-
sioners and also by (2) the enactment of Section 94A of
