SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect January 1, 1950.

CHAPTER 491

(Senate Bill 448)

AN ACT to repeal and reenact, with amendments, Section
198 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition) and Sections 199, 199A, 199B and sub-
section 7 of Section 199C of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Public Edu-
cation", subtitle "Chapter 19. Source and Distribution
of Income", said Section relating to the dates for certifi-
cation and payment of State aid to the treasurers of the
County Boards of Education and the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 198 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition) and Sections 199, 199A, 199B
and subsection 7 of Section 199C of Article 77 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Public
Education", sub-title "Chapter 19. Source and Distribu-
tion of Income", be and the same are hereby repealed and
reenacted with amendments, to read as follows:

198. Such appropriations as are made by the General
Assembly for the payment of the expenses of the state
board of education and for the support and expenses of
the office of the state superintendent of schools shall be
paid each year in equal monthly instalments to the treas-
urer of the state board of education. On or before the
first day of each month the Comptroller shall draw his
warrant on the Treasurer of the State of Maryland for
the respective amounts due to the Treasurer of the State
Board of Education. On the receipt of the warrant of the
Comptroller, the Treasurer of the State of Maryland shall
immediately pay the amount due to the Treasurer of the
State Board of Education.

199. The State Superintendent of Schools shall certify
to the Comptroller, on or before the last day of July and
September the tenth day of December, the last day of
January, March and May, the amounts due on said dates
