they now have original or concurrent jurisdiction, and the
existing criminal procedure shall remain unchanged except
as herein specifically set forth.
And provided further that nothing in this Section shall
prevent the grand jury of any of the Counties
from considering and taking action by way of
presentment and indictment or otherwise, in any
case in which it may so proceed under existing law, if the
said grand jury deems it desirable to proceed by way of
presentment and indictment instead of by way of Infor-
mation, at any time before trial upon said Information.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions
of this Act shall not apply to Baltimore City or Baltimore
County.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all laws or
parts of laws, General or Local, inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this Section as re-enacted, be and the same are
hereby repealed.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1st, 1945.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
97A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1943 Supplement), title "Public Education, " sub-title
"Teachers' Retirement System, " making the provisions
of said section, applicable to certain teachers in Fred-
erick and Caroline Counties.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly o j Maryland,
That Section 97A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Public Education, "
sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System, " be and it is here-
by repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
97A. Any person who
(1) shall have been a teacher in the public schools of
this State for an aggregate period of twenty-five (25)
