(1943 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-
title "Trial Magistrate System, " relating to the appoint-
ment of Justices of the Peace throughout the State to
be known as Committing Magistrates.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 93 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace, "
sub-title "Trial Magistrates System, " be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

93. (Appointment) The Governor, by and with the
advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint for each
county in the State one or more Justices of the Peace to be
known as "Committing Magistrates, " and such number of
justices of the peace at large in the several counties, to be
designated "Trial Magistrates, " as is hereinafter specified
in Section 100.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety and, having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all of the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 778.
(Senate Bill 507)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 17 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Clerks
of Courts", sub-title "General Duties of Clerks", said new
section to be known as Section 1A, to follow immediately
after Section 1 of said Article, providing for the modern-
ization and re-indexing of the Records of the Office of
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for each of the several
counties, providing for the method of defraying the cost
of same, and providing for the purchase of the necessary
equipment and supplies.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 17
