890 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 760

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (Allegany County) of Section 100 of Ar-
ticle 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supple-
ment), title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-title "Trial
Magistrates System, " be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

100.

, (Allegany County). There shall be ten trial magis-
trates, two of whom shall sit for the trial of cases in the
City of Cumberland, two at Frostburg, one at Western-
port, one at Lonaconing, one at Mt. Savage, one at Mid-
land, one at Cresaptown and one at ^Barton. The trial
magistrates at Cumberland shall each receive an annual
salary of not less than $3, 300. 00. The trial magistrates at
Frostburg shall each receive an annual salary of not less
than $1, 320. 00. The trial magistrate of Cresaptown shall re-
ceive an annual salary of $840. 00. The trial magistrates
of Westernport, Lonaconing, Mt. Savage, Midland, and
Barton shall each receive an annual salary of not less than
$720. 00. All of which said salaries hereinbefore provided
shall be paid by the County Commissioners, said salaries
shall be in addition to any salaries now paid or hereafter
to be paid, any of the Trial Magistrates by any of the
incorporated Cities and Towns in Allegany County, but
the County Commissioners may, in their discretion, in-
crease the compensation paid to the trial magistrates in
Allegany County.

At least one of the trial magistrates at Cumberland and
Frostburg shall be present in his court room for the trial
of cases from 9 A. M. to 4 P. M. each day except Sundays,
the afternoon of Saturday and legal holidays, and shall be
present at such other times as the said magistrates may
decide upon, and as may be consistent with the public
business.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.
